Our services
If you have a business you have a legal obligation to ensure that any waste you generate is disposed of by a registered waste carrier; this is your Duty of Care. Unlike a domestic property your business rates do not include payment for any waste collection and these must be paid for separately.
Wealden District Council are pleased to offer businesses even more opportunities for recycling their waste with the launch of a 'One-Container' collection service for plastic bottles, food and drinks cans, aerosols, aluminium foil and beverage cartons (TetraPaks). This mixed collection is ideal for any businesses wanting to dispose of their lunchtime waste or for a variety of cafes, bars and food and drink outlets.
In addition to expanding its recycling collections to businesses, Wealden has pledged to help businesses save money and go green by keeping our cardboard collection charges at 2008 - 2009 prices with paper, cans, glass and mixed recycling collection charges only increasing slightly.
In contrast the rising prices of trade waste collections fuelled by increases in landfill taxes means that businesses taking the time to separate and recycle their waste can save money by setting up recycling collections and reducing the volume of their trade waste bin.
The average business spends up to 4-5% of its annual turnover on waste management costs, so effective recycling really can save your business money.
