The Planning Portal provides general guidance about the kinds of work for which you need to apply for planning permission and those for which you do not.
Submission of Certificate of Proposed Use
To find out whether proposed works need planning permission a Certificate of Proposed Use can be submitted. By submitting this Certificate a formal determination will be issued as to whether planning permission is required.

Changes to Permitted Development Rights
From 1st October 2008 amendments to the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 (GDPO) come into effect.

Development Team Approach

As part of this initiative we have also developed an Affordable Housing Protocol which brings together Developers, Officers and elected Members.

Contacting the Duty Officer
A duty officer is available from 9.30am to 12.30pm every day. They can be contacted on 01892 602011 for general advice on planning matters.
Planning Surgeries
These are held in both the Crowborough and Hailsham offices (and Polegate Town Council Offices on the 1st Thursday of each month) depending on the location of the enquiry. Appointments need to be pre-booked, and each appointment lasts 30 minutes.
Surgery for the South of Wealden is held in the Hailsham Offices on Thursday afternoons 1.30pm - 5.00pm. Appointments for this surgery can be made by calling 01892 602010.
Surgery for the North of Wealden is held in the Crowborough Offices on Tuesday mornings 9.00am - 12 noon. Appointments for this surgery can be made by calling 01892 602010.
