BEST Programme - Private housing renewal in Brighton & East Sussex 2007-11
The Brighton & Hove, East Sussex Together Partnership (BEST) has been allocated £18.6 million over three years by the South East England Regional Housing Board to tackle some of the region’s worst housing conditions. Of this £18.6 million Wealden District Council has received £627,000.

A partnership scheme between private landlords and the Council. The owners of empty properties provide homes on a lease and takes care of repairs; the Council provides tenants, guaranteed rent 52 weeks of the year and housing management services free of charge.
