Diseases such as food poisoning, Meningitis and typhoid have to be notified to us by the doctor. For advice and information on particular diseases and conditions visit the NHS Direct site.
Preventing disease spreading
We investigate cases so that contacts can be traced and steps taken to prevent the
disease spreading. Contact us if you would like to know more or need to report a concern.
Communicable Disease Control
We work closely with the local Consultant in Communicable Disease Control at the East Sussex, Brighton & Hove Primary Care Trust on cases of notifiable disease and other incidents such as Legionnaires' Disease and contribute to national surveillance schemes co-ordinated by the Health Protection Agency.
