What is “Workwise”?
Workwise is a change programme currently being undertaken by the Council to ensure that, as an organisation, we are working as efficiently and effectively as possible. To achieve this we have been working on a number of projects including; the introduction of a flexible working policy, better document management, community access points and a review of our accommodation needs. These projects are being carried out under the overall title of “Workwise” as they have connections with each other and will have an impact on the way in which we work. Programmes of this nature are being carried out by many local authorities to try and balance service delivery with increasing financial pressures.
Where will the Council offices be?
A cross-party working group of councillors, aided by professional consultants, reviewed the options for office accommodation. After considering the key issues it recommended to Wealden's Cabinet, in June 2008, that "The Wealden District Council single site HQ should be based at Hailsham with a new-build on land presently owned by WDC." A purpose-built Council headquarters will save council tax payers' money, and set an example for sustainability and energy saving at the same time.
Will customers still be able to access Council services in Crowborough ?
Yes. The plan has always been to retain a reception point in Crowborough. This is also part of a larger programme to introduce kiosks and help points throughout the district.
