What this service does:
- We manage and maintain 3,188 Council-owned homes.
- We provide free housing advice.
- We provide grants to make homes more energy efficient.
- We provide grants/loans to adapt properties for people who have disabilities.
- We provide temporary accommodation for people who are homeless that we have a duty to house.
- We enable new affordable housing to be built in Wealden.
- We maintain a Housing Register and allocate Council and housing association properties to people through our choice based letting scheme "Sussex Homemove".
- We work with our partners to predict the need for housing in the future for different communities in Wealden.
- We enforce housing standards in the private sector.
- We licence caravans for occupation.
- We follow the procedure for minimising unauthorized encampments.

What this service does:
- We investigate complaints of noise, odour, smoke and other public health nuisances.
- We licence a range of premises, persons and activities, including sales of alcohol, entertainment, taxis, zoos, pet shops, riding stables, scrap metal dealers, bookmakers and lotteries.
- We provide a pest control treatment service (using a contractor) for a range of public health pests.
- We investigate contaminated land and give advice for developers.
- We collect stray dogs and give general animal welfare advice.
- We investigate drainage complaints - both private sewers and surface water.
- We deal with road closures and street naming.
- We develop a national land and property gazetteer for you in Wealden.
- We provide advice to you to help prevent flooding.
- We work with partners to manage beaches and protect the coastline.

- We inspect food businesses to make sure that the food you eat is safe.
- We inspect workplaces to make sure there are no risks to the health or safety of employees or visitors.
- We work with the Police and other organisations to respond to crime and disorder and antisocial behaviour.
- We provide grants to support voluntary organisations together with a grants advice service.
- We develop play, recreation and cultural opportunities.
- We provide Leisure Centres.
- We provide advice to businesses on red tape and regulation.
- We investigate and control outbreaks of infection.
- We provide training courses for businesses.
- We represent the Council in its dealings with the NHS and in relation to the needs of young people.
- We provide safety initiatives to support older people and school children.
- We provide the Wealden Business Help website to give guidance and advice for businesses.
- We provide the W4Y website with the local strategy partnership for young people in Wealden.
