Housing

Housing Needs Survey

The Council have commissioned Fordham Research to carry out this survey to find out about the housing needs of its residents now and also their future needs. The results will help to inform the 'Local Development Framework' which will guide future development in the District to 2026.

Key Findings and changes made:

Taking into account incomes, affordability and the availability of affordable housing, the survey has identified an annual affordable housing need of 812 in Wealden. The results from this study will provide evidence to support the development of housing, including affordable housing, across the District and policies within the emerging Local Development Framework.

Draft Budget and Corporate Plan survey

The survey asks participants' views the Council's key responsibilities, on making cost savings and on our corporate priorities and key issues facing Wealden over the next three years.

Results will inform key strategic decisions.

Key Findings and changes made:

The responses were generally very supportive of the ambitions set out in the Corporate Plan, confirming that, from their viewpoint, these were the Corporate Objectives that they would expect and that the five key issues reflected the most important priorities District-wide. With broad support for the Corporate Plan and what the Council seeks to achieve over the next three years, few changes have been necessary to the Corporate Plan. We have, though, refined and revised some of our aims as a consequence of consultation, for example in working with our health partners. A number of respondents have also encouraged us to be more explicit on affordable housing within the Local Development Framework and this will be addressed in conjunction with
