Making a Safer Wealden
Wealden’s Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership has a new name and a new logo.
Now known as The Safer Wealden Partnership, the community partnership will work together to reduce the levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in the district.
“The overall levels of crime in Wealden are low, even for a rural district, so we must be careful not to raise the fear of crime among residents unnecessarily,” said Chief Inspector Rex Matthews, chairman of Safer Wealden.

A walk on the Weald Side
The idea that a humble parish footpath has the potential to become the new leisure highway of the 21st century is being exploited in a new venture in Rotherfield.
In 2000 Rotherfield was chosen to take part in an East Sussex Rural Tourism Programme which led to the creation of the Rotherfield Community Tourism Initiative (RCTI) to explore ways of boosting the rural economy. Parishioners were asked to consider various ways of achieving this aim.
The responses gave a clear answer – to ‘market’ the parish’s chief asset, its beautiful countryside.
Developing champion sports coaches in Wealden
Wealden District Council has announced the second round of its grants to local sports coaches, helping them further their coaching skills in order to train our future gold medal hopes.
Beneficiaries from the second round of Wealden’s Sports Development Training Scheme include members of Crowborough Athletic Ladies football team, Heathfield netball club, Uckfield Gymnastics Club and the youth section of Crowborough Athletic FC.
The grants enable local sports coaches, leaders and officials to develop their skills through a nationally-recognised coaching qualification course or award. More information about the grants.
